U.S Patent Issued to Terra Novo, Inc. for Combination Fire Resistance and Soil Erosion Control Methodology

Bakersfield, CA - September 3, 2008. Terra Novo, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of soil erosion/dust control and water clarification products, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent Number 7,407,993, which covers methods that serve the dual purpose of resisting soil erosion while also imparting fire-resistance. The patented methodology utilizes Terra Novo's novel SFM™ technology that combines polyacrylamide copolymers, such as Terra Novo, Inc.'s well-known EarthGuard polymer formulation, in combination with mulch and water in certain proportions which are then directly applied to slopes and hillsides to provide seasonal erosion control protection.

The patented technology provides exceptional erosion control protection and helps prevent forest and brush fires due to the non-flammable, non-toxic and water-soluble properties of the polymers utilized in the practice of Terra Novo, Inc.'s SFM™ products. This proprietary methodology is also useful for treating post-burn areas where vegetation has been eradicated by wildfires. The technology is further applicable for use with all types of soils and slope gradients, and can be applied in virtually all types of weather conditions.
